The death of a reef
In 2014, a prolonged spike in global sea temperatures caused a global bleaching event. The XL Catlin Seaview Survey were able to monitor the death of a reef in American Samoa before, during and after the bleaching event. It might take decades for this particular reef to fully recover. Use your mouse to 'click and drag' to view all around the reef. You'll see the reef as it was, then the bleaching event, and finally the reef's death.
